- BYD is attempting to reverse declines with disruptive charging technology and premium models amid six consecutive months of falling sales.
- BYD will debut the Datang and the refreshed Denza Z9GT on March 5, while also launching the facelifted models from Yangwang.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) is attempting to reverse its recent sales decline by introducing premium models and breakthrough technologies.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant will host a «disruptive technology» launch event on March 5, unveiling the Dynasty lineup’ first D-segment flagship SUV, the Datang; the updated Denza Z9GT; and refreshed models from its ultra-premium sub-brand Yangwang.
Lu Tian, head of sales for the Dynasty lineup, shared multiple images of the Datang SUV on Weibo Tuesday, stating the vehicle will be revealed on March 5.
Denza shared a preview video of the updated Z9GT on Weibo Monday to build anticipation for the model.
Both vehicles may begin pre-sales at the March 5 event, with official market launches and deliveries expected at a later date.
Yangwang announced Tuesday that the 2026 Yangwang U7, Yangwang U8, and Yangwang U8L will launch on March 5.

The Datang SUV is expected to feature a 1000V high-voltage architecture, targeting China’s premium automotive market priced around 400,000 yuan ($58,130).
Paired with a 10C-rated flash-charging battery, the model is projected to achieve a peak charging power of 1,000 kW, significantly reducing charging time, according to earlier reports from local media.
The Denza Z9GT has achieved a major breakthrough in range capability. Its pure-electric variant boasts a maximum range of 1,036 kilometers, making it the world’s longest-range production electric vehicle to date, Denza said late last month.

Market speculation suggests the upcoming disruptive technology is closely tied to BYD’s megawatt-level flash-charging infrastructure.
Deutsche Bank analysts project the second-generation megawatt flash charger could deliver up to 2,100 kW of power, substantially boosting BYD’s product competitiveness.
These initiatives come as BYD grapples with weakening domestic demand.
Impacted by the Spring Festival holiday and adjustments to national support policies, the company’s February NEV sales plunged 41% year-on-year to 190,190 units, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline.
Despite overall domestic sales pressure, BYD’s overseas expansion maintains robust momentum. Its February exports reached 100,600 units, surpassing the 100,000-unit mark for the fourth consecutive month and exceeding domestic sales for the first time.
