BYD (HKG: 1211) has launched the updated Xia MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) at significantly reduced pricing compared to its predecessor to address intense competition.

The 2026 Xia MPV was officially launched today with an official starting price of RMB 206,800 ($29,020), representing a reduction of RMB 43,000, or 17.21 percent, from its predecessor’s starting price of RMB 249,800.

After applying the limited-time trade-in subsidy, the updated Xia MPV’s starting price is RMB 196,800.

The Xia is BYD’s first Dynasty series MPV and the automaker’s second MPV under the BYD Group following the Denza D9. It was initially launched on January 8, 2025.

The 2026 Xia MPV offers four variants with official starting prices of RMB 206,800, RMB 219,800, RMB 246,800, and RMB 269,800.

After applying a limited-time RMB 10,000 trade-in subsidy, the model’s starting price range falls between RMB 196,800 and RMB 259,800.

The older Xia MPV also featured four variants with starting prices of RMB 249,800, RMB 259,800, RMB 285,800, and RMB 309,800.

The three-row, seven-seat MPV measures 5,145 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,045 mm.

Alongside the price reduction, BYD has upgraded the Xia’s battery range and safety features.

The two lower-priced variants of the 2026 Xia MPV offer a 100-kilometer battery range, matching its predecessor. The two higher-priced variants feature a 218-kilometer battery range, exceeding the 180 kilometers of their predecessors.

With a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, the 2026 Xia MPV achieves a combined range exceeding 1,100 kilometers.

It retains its powertrain consisting of a 1.5 T engine paired with an electric motor, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in either 8.1 or 8.5 seconds.

The updated model reduces fuel consumption at low battery levels by 0.4 liters per 100 kilometers compared to its predecessor, now achieving 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

From its January launch through late October, the Xia delivered 63,824 units, with over 10,000 units sold in each of the first two months, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Ahead of the 2026 Xia’s arrival, deliveries dropped to 1,990 units last month.

This marks the second consecutive month of year-on-year decline in BYD’s monthly sales.
