BYD has launched the 2026-model-year Song Pro DM‑i long‑range plug‑in hybrid electric vehicle in China, featuring an extended pure-electric range and updated configuration options. The new variants expand the Song Pro DM‑i lineup, with a focus on longer CLTC pure-electric range and enhanced equipment levels compared with the previously introduced 133 km versions.
The Song Pro DM‑i long‑range variant is priced from 122,800 to 130,800 yuan before incentives in China. Using a recent exchange rate of approximately 6.99 yuan per USD, these prices convert to approximately 17,560 USD and 18,720 USD, respectively. When limited‑time purchase tax subsidies are applied, the effective prices are 119,800 yuan (about 17,140 USD) and 127,800 yuan (about 18,280 USD).
| Model Variant | Engine + Motor (kW) | Battery (kWh) | EV Range (CLTC, km) | Official Price (yuan) | Price After Subsidy (yuan) | Official Price (USD) | Price After Subsidy (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 133 km Entry | 1.5 L + 120 kW | 18.3 kWh* | 133 | 102,800 | 99,800 | 14,700 | 14,280 |
| 133 km Advanced | 1.5 L + 120 kW | 18.3 kWh* | 133 | 112,800 | 109,800 | 16,140 | 15,710 |
| 220 km Long‑Range Advanced | 1.5 L + 120 kW | 26.6 kWh | 220 | 122,800 | 119,800 | 17,560 | 17,140 |
| 220 km Long‑Range Premium | 1.5 L + 120 kW | 26.6 kWh | 220 | 130,800 | 127,800 | 18,720 | 18,280 |
The primary technical change in the 2026 long‑range Song Pro DM‑i compared with the earlier 133 km pure electric range versions is the adoption of a larger 26.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack specifically tuned for plug‑in hybrid use. Under CLTC test conditions, this larger battery enables a pure-electric driving range of 220 km for the new variants.
BYD’s Song Pro DM‑i continues to use a 1.5‑liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor in the plug‑in hybrid system. The engine’s maximum power remains at 74 kW while the electric motor delivers up to 120 kW, with an officially published charge‑depleted fuel consumption figure of 3.2 liters per 100 km.
The long‑range versions retain the vehicle’s compact-SUV dimensions of 4735 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, and 1690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2712 mm. Exterior styling for the long‑range models remains largely unchanged from the standard Song Pro DM‑i, though two new exterior paint colours have been added to the palette.
Equipment updates for the long‑range variants include comfort‑oriented features such as front‑seat ventilation and heating, an integrated heated-and-cooled refrigerator, and a high‑speed tire-burst stability control system. These items are positioned as upgrades to the configurations offered on the 133 km-range models.
Driver assistance hardware and software continue to include BYD’s “God’s Eye C” assisted driving system with multi‑sensor inputs and advanced assisted functions, consistent with existing Song Pro DM‑i offerings.
The Song Pro DM‑i long‑range launch adds to BYD’s broader 2026 strategy of improving the electric range of its plug‑in hybrid models across several nameplates to better meet evolving regulatory and market requirements in China.
