BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao will officially launch the Tai 7 SUV (sport utility vehicle) on September 9, the second model in its Tai series.

Local media outlet Auto Home mentioned the date in a report yesterday. Fang Cheng Bao has not yet announced the Tai 7’s official launch date.

The Tai 7 will feature a unibody frame design, with an expected price range of RMB 250,000 ($34,990) to RMB 300,000, according to Auto Home.

This suggests the Tai 7’s price range will likely overlap with the Bao 5 off-road SUV’s pricing of RMB 239,800 to RMB 329,800.

The Tai 7 is the second model in the Tai series following the Tai 3 electric SUV, and Fang Cheng Bao’s first hybrid SUV with a unibody design. Its first production vehicles rolled off the assembly line on August 11.

On September 1, Fang Cheng Bao announced that Tai 7 display models became available at over 300 stores across China.

Previously disclosed specifications indicate the Tai 7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

The Tai 7 features BYD’s God’s Eye smart driving system and will be offered in both LiDAR-equipped and non-LiDAR versions.

Its all-wheel-drive long-range variant houses a 35.6-kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC battery range of up to 180 kilometers.

The model also includes two-wheel-drive standard-range versions with a 26.6-kWh battery pack, achieving a CLTC battery range of 135 kilometers.

With a full tank and fully charged battery, the Tai 7 can achieve a combined range exceeding 1,300 kilometers.

On August 16, 2023, BYD officially launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand. Its current lineup includes the Bao series’ Bao 5 and Bao 8 hybrid off-road SUVs, alongside the Tai series’ Tai 3 compact family SUV.

On December 10, 2024, Fang Cheng Bao unveiled its new Tai series product line, establishing it as the brand’s second major lineup following the Bao series.

Fang Cheng Bao sold 16,265 vehicles in August, marking a 233.57 percent year-on-year increase and a 14.70 percent rise from July, according to previously released data.

This comprised 9,081 Tai 3 units, 5,334 Bao 5 units, and 1,850 Bao 8 units.
