Li Auto announced today it will launch its i6 model on September 26. The new vehicle boasts a maximum range of 720km and an energy consumption rate of 13.6kWh/100km. The i6 features an 800V high-voltage pure electric architecture and comes equipped with the 5C lithium iron phosphate battery across all variants.

As Li Auto’s second pure electric SUV, the i6 is positioned as a five-seat mid-to-large-size SUV. In terms of appearance, it continues Li Auto’s latest design language with star-ring daytime running lights placed below the windshield and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The side profile incorporates low-drag wheel rims and hidden door handles. The roofline slopes more dramatically than the i8 model, with smaller rear side windows.

From the side view, the i6 features short overhangs with a long wheelbase and a large-curvature arc running across the roof. The rear adopts the family design language with a through-type light strip and rear spoiler. The license plate mount is positioned in the middle of the tailgate. The vehicle’s dimensions are 4950×1935×1655/1670mm with a wheelbase of 3000mm.

In terms of performance, the i6’s 800V high-voltage architecture paired with 5C lithium iron phosphate batteries enables 500km of range with 10 minutes of charging. The vehicle will be available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The rear-wheel drive model is equipped with a 250 kW (335 hp) motor, while the all-wheel drive version features a 150kW (201 hp) front motor and a 250kW (335 hp) rear motor.

Industry analysts from Morgan Stanley quoted by Chinese media WallstreetCN consider the i6 a crucial model for Li Auto’s transition to pure electric vehicles. They suggest that Li Auto should adopt an aggressive pricing strategy, potentially reducing the planned price range from 250,000-300,000 yuan (34,750-41,700 USD) to 200,000-250,000 yuan (27,800-34,750 USD) to drive sales volume. Following the underwhelming performance of the i8 model, Morgan Stanley believes Li Auto needs to choose between maintaining a 20% profit margin and achieving monthly sales of 20,000 units.

The i6 will enter a highly competitive mid-to-large SUV market, facing rivals such as the Aito M7, Xiaomi YU7, Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G9, Zeekr 7X, and Nio ES6.
