Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625) sub-brand Nevo today previewed the Q05, which will compete in the compact electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) market against models including the BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Yuan Up.
Nevo shared four images of the electric Q05 on its social media accounts today, stating that the model will be its first global pure electric compact SUV.
The images reveal limited details, but the SUV appears to feature a roof-mounted LiDAR and semi-hidden door handles.
The currently available Nevo Q05 was initially launched on December 12, 2023, and is only available as a plug-in hybrid.
Its length, width, and height are 4,539 mm, 1,865 mm, and 1,680 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,656 mm.
For comparison, the BYD Yuan Up measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm.
The Nevo Q05 is currently available in three hybrid versions, with a starting price of RMB 96,900 ($13,500).
Nevo is a new brand launched by Changan in August 2023. At the time, Changan said that the brand’s product portfolio would include the A series, Q series, and E0 series.
Nevo’s current lineup includes the A05, A07, Q05, Q07, E07, K50, and Lumin, covering the sedan, SUV (sport utility vehicle), and pickup truck markets.
The brand will also launch a new sedan model, the C390, in the second half of the year, which will be Changan’s first sedan based on the SDA (Software-Defined Car) architecture and will have a wheelbase of nearly 3 meters.
The C390 will be built on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform, which will offer better energy efficiency and charging speed.
