The Xpeng G02 EV crossover was spotted in China ahead of the official release. It is a smaller sibling of the Xpeng GX SUV previously exposed by the governmental regulator. The G02 will likely resemble the Range Rover Sport. It will be available with BEV and EREV powertrain variants.
In February 2026, Xpeng released official images of its new full-size crossover called GX. It has already applied for a sales license in China with BEV and EREV powertrain options. The Xpeng GX’s exterior styling was clearly inspired by the Range Rover. On February 17, a smaller variant of the Xpeng GX codenamed G02 was seen in China during road tests, Autohome reports.

The spotted Xpeng G02 is wearing heavy camouflage. It also has test taillights and DRLs. We can highlight that the car has a closed front end with an active air intake in the front bumper. The car’s headlamps sit in the lower part of the front bumper, resembling the Xpeng GX. CarNewsChina expects the body length of the G02 to reach approximately 5 meters.
Another feature of the Xpeng G02 is a slightly slanted roofline, a roof spoiler, and flush door handles. The car has a minimalistic rear bumper. Side-view mirrors of the G02 sit on door panels. Similar to other recently launched Xpeng cars, the G02 has no LiDAR sensor. It relies on a vision-based system that is easier to teach with a large volume of data.
Xpeng G02 market positioning
The Xpeng G02 adopts the distinguishing design language of the GX crossover. We assume that this SUV will be positioned as a smaller 5-seat variant of the Xpeng GX with a similar styling and powertrain. The Xpeng G02 will be to the Xpeng GX what the Range Rover Sport is to the Range Rover. The price range of the G02 is expected to lie between 300,000 and 400,000 yuan (43,420 – 57,900 USD).

We will remind you that the BEV version of the Xpeng GX features a single TZ230XY01G01X electric motor, manufactured by Luxshare, for 270 kW (362 hp). The AWD variant offers the additional YS230XY01G01E Xpeng-made e-motor in the front, producing 160 kW (215 hp). The combined peak power output of this version is 430 kW (577 hp).
The EREV variant of the Xpeng GX comes standard with the 1.5-liter DAM15NTE engine for 110 kW (148 hp). It is available with dual-motor AWD only. Its electric motors produce 160 kW and 210 kW (282 hp), respectively. The combined peak power of the system is 370 kW (496 hp). A CALB-made LFP battery with a capacity of 63.3 kWh powers the system, providing an electric range of 320 km under unknown conditions.
