For a relative newcomer to the automotive industry, the Xiaomi YU7 electric sedan has claimed the title of China’s best-selling passenger vehicle in January 2026, according to data cited by Xiaomi Group executives.
Xu Jieyun, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Xiaomi Group and Deputy General Manager of the Strategic Marketing Department, shared the news on February 12th, stating: “In January, YU7 was the sales champion. Thank you for your support.”
According to the national passenger vehicle retail sales ranking released by Autohome, the Xiaomi YU7 topped the list with 37,869 units sold in January, making it the domestic passenger vehicle retail sales champion for the month.

Editor’s comment
The Xiaomi YU7’s victory as the overall sales champion across all models was not unexpected. What truly surprised me, however, was that BYD only managed to get one car (the Fang Cheng Bao Ti7) into the top 20 sales rankings.
