BYD partners with DJI to introduce the Ling Yuan system, a roof-mounted drone for select models, enabling aerial footage on the go.

BYD & DJI introduce a drone system, called Lingyuan, that integrates a drone directly into a vehicle, creating a mobile entertainment platform.

BYD has partnered with DJI to release Ling Yuan, a $2,200 vehicle-mounted drone system that consists of a storage compartment and an on-board positioning module handle. The included drone (DJI Air 3S) can perform a dynamic takeoff / landing while the vehicle is moving at speeds of up to 15.5 mph (25 km/h) and can follow at speeds up to 33.5 mph (54 km/h). The new DJI drone system is supported on several BYD EV models, including the high-end Yangwang U8, Denza N9, and Sealion 07 DM-i.

The system integrates a drone with the vehicle, thus giving the vehicle a vertical field of view.

BYD already has a drone system on board the Yangwang U8 and has filed for variants with the system for several less expensive models.
