BYD has launched three BEV models in Tunisia -- Tang EV, Dolphin and Atto 3, and two PHEV models -- King and Song Plus DM-i.

The plant would create around 10,000 jobs, which would put it on a par with the largest plants in the country.

The company grows mostly thanks to plug-in hybrids.

The Song and Qin families continue to be BYD's best-sellers. The Yuan family was the third best-selling BYD model in June, with 36,222 units sold.

BYD Co sold a record number of electric and hybrid cars in the second quarter (2Q), sales data compiled by Bloomberg News shows, as price cuts and new technology stoked consumers into purchases. China’s best-selling car brand sold nearly one million models over the period, solidifying a rebound after a slow start to the year. The sales were driven in part by the company’s move to reduce prices across most models earlier this year, sacrificing profitability, to target gasoline models made by foreign brands.

The Chinese ride-hailing app has acclimated remarkably well to local conditions, challenging simplistic narratives about the entry of Chinese companies into the region.

BYD's passenger BEVs sold fewer units in June than in May, while sales of PHEVs hit their 4th consecutive record high.

BYD India is expected to launch its Seagull electric car on 10th July 2024, potentially positioning it against the Tata Tiago EV and other budget electric vehicles. With a hinted price range of ₹9 lakh to ₹11 lakh, the Seagull aims to capture the growing Indian EV market.

The BYD bet turned out to be one of Berkshire's best, with its value ballooning to $8 billion at BYD's peak as the EV market exploded.
