BYD has sold 17,470 fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles across its European markets in October, a 206.8% jump from the same period a year ago.

China’s giant automaker BYD has officially launched the hybrid version of its Atto 2 model in Europe, nearly ten months after the local debut of the fully electric version on the continent.

BYD is currently considering Portugal for its third European factory, as part of the automaker’s strategy to produce locally and avoid tariffs on vehicles imported from China.

The new plant will join the company’s other Hungarian facility, located in Komárom. Last year, BYD sold more than 4.27 million electric vehicles worldwide, becoming the world’s best-selling EV brand.
