BYD will launch the 2025 Song Plus DM-i and Song L DM-i on July 25, and they will be the first BYD SUVs to be equipped with the latest DM 5.0 hybrid system.

BYD Company reportedly hired former Baidu executive Zhou Peng to lead its driver assistance technology development. Peng will focus on creating end-to-end large model planning and control algorithms, bringing experience from Baidu's smart driving unit and Baidu-backed EV maker Jiyue.

A former Baidu smart driving tech veteran has joined BYD to head up end-to-end large model algorithm development, according to local media.

“China has yet to create a single international marquee of its own that is universally recognised and respected. It is time for Chinese carmakers to upend the order of the global automotive industry and chart a course into a new vast territory.”

The BYD Song L DM-i plug-in hybrid crossover will start sales and deliveries in China on July 25. Price starts at 13,700 USD.

The front face design of BYD Song Pro DM-i has undergone significant changes, and it is expected to debut and be launched on the market within this year.

Chinese dealers began receiving BYD Song L DM-i plug-in hybrid crossovers with a DM 5.0 tech and prepared for the pre-sale start.

Electric vehicle registrations in China climbed by a third in May as BYD continued to control the country's market.

The Song L DM-i is expected to be powered by the same DM 5.0 hybrid system as the Qin L DM-i hybrid sedan, resulting in lower fuel consumption and longer range.

BYD has released the official images of its Song L DM-i model, which is equipped with the fifth-generation DM hybrid system.
