Turkey Talking With BYD And Chery About Potential EV Factories

Chinese electric car manufacturers BYD and Chery are in ongoing discussions with the Turkish government on potential electric vehicle (EV) factories.

Turkey welcomes manufacturers from China to invest. This is evidenced by the country's authorities in the process of negotiating with two companies from the bamboo curtain country, namely BYD and Chery, in order to increase car sales in Europe.

Global EV registrations were up 19% year on year in March, reaching more than 1.3 million units. The BYD Qin Plus enjoyed particular success.

The plug-in hybrid pickup is from Chinese automaker BYD and is aimed at competing with Ford, General Motors and Toyota vehicles in Mexico.

BYD And Chery Automobile: The development comes as the European Commission is investigating whether fully-electric cars manufactured in China were receiving distortive subsidies and warranted extra tariffs.

An interesting addition to the plug-in hybrid pickup segment is the new BYD Shark that has just been launched in Mexico.

Chinese EV maker BYD has unveiled the Shark mid-size hybrid-electric pickup truck in Mexico, marking the first time that the company has launched a new product outside its home country. The firm's Chief of Americas, Stella Li said that Mexico was chosen because of the rapid growth in demand for pickup trucks in the country.
