03 Jun 2024 - In more unwelcome news for the lithium wannabees and actual miners and refiners, BYD, the world’s biggest maker of electrified vehicles, is continuing its push away from concentrating on lithium-gobbling battery-only EVs.

BYD delivered 330,488 passenger vehicles in May, including 146,395 battery electric vehicles, or BEVs, and 184,093 plug-in hybrid vehicles, or PHEVs.

The Song and Qin families continue to be BYD's best-sellers. The Yuan family was the third best-selling BYD model in May, with 40,231 units sold.

BYD's PHEVs have continued to hit record highs over the past three months, performing significantly better than BEVs, reflecting the overall market's greater acceptance of hybrid models.

Both BYD and Geely have 3.5% share of the global car market this year as both continue to fight over who has the best PHEV system.
