14 May 2024 - China's car market slowed in April, and had it not been for a reasonable performance by the still-growing new energy vehicle sector, total sales would have looked forlorn. However, while sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) did fall in April, the sector’s share of total vehicle sales jumped to a record high, as sales of conventionally powered ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles slid faster than sales of NEVs.

The BYD Shark can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.7 seconds, with an NEDC battery range of 100 kilometers and a combined range of 840 kilometers.

Mercedes-Benz will use batteries from BYD's battery arm FinDreams in a hybrid version of its GLC SUV, according to a regulatory filing.

CATL's share in April decreased by 0.22 percentage points from March, while BYD's increased by 1.58 percentage points.

The e-Platform 3.0 Evo brings higher integration and enhanced performance. The Sea Lion 07 EV starts at RMB 189,800 ($26,270) and will begin deliveries this month.

The joint venture is 51 percent owned by BYD's battery unit FinDreams, with local conglomerate Huaihai holding the remaining 49 percent.

One of the key reasons why Toyota is leaning towards adopting BYD's DM-i technology is that it is less expensive and relatively mature, according to local media.

The price range for BYD's Sea Lion 07 BEV will be RMB 200,000 ($27,700) to RMB 260,000, an executive said last year.
