BYD was founded in February 1995 with an initial workforce of around 20 employees. Now it has become one of China's largest automakers, with a total workforce of more than 900,000.

The 22nd Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition officially kicked off on Friday, with many major global carmakers actively participating in and introducing new electric vehicle (NEV) models. This reflects their continued optimism about the vast potential of China's NEV market, even in the face of growing competition from domestic brands, analysts said.

The Guangzhou auto show, which runs through Nov 24, is spotlighting a dazzling lineup from Chinese and international carmakers.

Auto Guangzhou in southern China is set to delight visitors with some impressive premieres: Audi and its local partners are showcasing three product highlights exclusively for the Chinese market at this year’s fair. The Audi Q6L e-tron will be presented at the FAW stand shortly before its market launch as the first locally produced vehicle based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The A5L, successor to the A4L, will also be on display. At the SAIC stand, visitors can expect to see the recently presented AUDI E concept and the sister brand AUDI, written in capital letters. This model embodies intelligent and connected electric vehicles that are being jointly developed by Audi and SAIC specifically for China. Audi is positioning itself in China with its two-partner strategy. Collaborating with the local car manufacturers FAW and SAIC, Audi is developing customized vehicles for the Chinese market.

The Denza Z9 is available in PHEV and BEV variants, and its tri-motor powertrain allows the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

BYD expects to produce around 200 electric buses per year in Azerbaijan between 2025 and 2028.

The Song Pro DM-i is the 10th model BYD has launched in Chile. The BYD Shark will be launched in Chile in the first quarter of 2025.

China’s leading new energy vehicle manufacturer BYD Auto announced it has completed its market entry study in South Korea.

BYD Korea said it has “completed review to release passenger car brands in the domestic market” and expects to enter the South Korean market early next year.
