A tiny, low-priced electric car called the Seagull has American automakers and politicians trembling.

BYD is continuing to expand its Ocean family of electric vehicles, seeking government approval to bring out a smaller version of its Seal sports sedan,

"Any car company that’s not paying attention…is going to be lost."

BYD has unofficially pulled the covers off the production version of a wild concept shown off at the Beijing Auto Show last month.

The model looks like a production version of the Ocean-M concept, and the final name could also be Seal 06 GT, Seal Mini, or Seal 05 EV.
