The Pentagon has told lawmakers that Alibaba, Baidu and BYD should be added to the US 1260H list of Chinese military-linked companies, a move that could hurt their reputation, Bloomberg reported.

Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg informed ‌lawmakers of the conclusion in a letter on October 7, three weeks before Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping agreed to a broad trade truce, according to the report. It is not immediately ⁠clear if the companies ‌have been added to the Pentagon's 1260H list of Chinese companies deemed military-linked but operating in ‍the U.S., Bloomberg reported.

Domestic automakers including Nio, Xpeng, Xiaomi EV, and Li Auto, alongside international brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, will participate.

CATL's market share in October increased by 0.19 percentage points compared to September, while BYD's share grew by 0.22 percentage points.

CATL and BYD collectively installed 442.2 GWh of EV batteries in January-September 2025, accounting for 54.5 percent of the global total.
