CATL and BYD are working on faster-charging batteries for electric cars. CATL is planning to launch a new generation of its Qilin battery with a charging rate of 6C in the second half of 2024. BYD is also rumoured to be working on a 6C battery.

There are reports that CATL and BYD are preparing to launch power batteries with a charging rate of up to 6C.

CATL plans to launch a second-generation Qilin Battery with a 6C charging multiplier in the second half of 2024, and BYD's second-generation Blade Battery could also be launched in the second half of the year, with a 6C battery in the works.

To counteract market dumping, the European Union will slap tariffs of up to 38% on electric vehicles from China. This puts additional strain on China’s EV manufacturers, which already face poor sales in Europe.

China has been accused of dumping cheap electric cars on EU countries. But poor sales, price wars and tariff threats have prompted a change of mood among some Chinese auto producers.
