BYD’s monstrous 3,000 hp Yangwang U9 has set a world record as the fastest production automobile ever. The hypercar reached a speed of 308 mph in Germany, surpassing the Bugatti Chiron.

BYD’s luxury sub-brand Yangwang has unveiled on Saturday a new track-focused version of its U9 supercar that has set a new global speed record.

Housed in a standard 20-foot container, the battery delivers 10 MWh and reaches a volumetric energy density of 233 kWh per cubic meter, about 51 percent higher than the market average.
