Shenzhen-based BYD disclosed on Sunday that its May sales surged to 331,817 vehicles, with 146,395 units being fully electric. This marked a substantial 38 percent increase from the 240,220 vehicles sold during the same period last year.

BYD delivered 330,488 passenger vehicles in May, including 146,395 battery electric vehicles, or BEVs, and 184,093 plug-in hybrid vehicles, or PHEVs.

BYD's PHEVs have continued to hit record highs over the past three months, performing significantly better than BEVs, reflecting the overall market's greater acceptance of hybrid models.

The brand claims that the latest hybrid technology allows customers to save up to 1,362 dollars yearly compared to pure fuel models.

Nio's fourth-generation battery swap station is equipped with 23 battery compartments, compatible with multi-size battery packs, and supports service for multiple brands.
