Leapmotor is set to introduce a high-power variant of its Lafa 5 model. The new declaration images, today revealed in the latest Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) catalog, showcase a series of athletic upgrades and a boost in motor output.

The most notable changes on the exterior are concentrated on the front fascia, where the Lafa 5 high-power version adopts a more aggressive front lip with a sporty spoiler design, creating a distinctive dual-layer air vent structure. Along the sides, the vehicle is equipped with sporty side skirts and will offer two tire specifications: 225/45 R19 and 235/45 R19. The rear of the car has also been redesigned, featuring a new spoiler and rear bumper.

Under the hood, the new Lafa 5 variant will be powered by an electric motor with a maximum output of 180 kW (241 hp). The battery cells for this model will be supplied by CATL, Gotion High-tech, and CALB.

Leapmotor delivered nearly 600,000 vehicles in 2025, marking a 103% year-on-year increase and securing the top spot among domestic new energy vehicle (NEV) startups for deliveries that year. The company achieved 119% of its delivery target. In January 2026, Leapmotor’s deliveries reached 32,059 units, represents a 27% growth over January 2025.

The company’s sales target for the entirety of 2026 is 1.05 million units, which means it needs to sell a million more in the remaining 11 months.

Late last year, Leapmotor CEO Zhu Jiangming stated that the company’s goal for a decade from now is to achieve annual sales of 4 million vehicles, aiming to become one of the top ten global automakers.
