Mazda announced that orders for its new electric SUV, the Mazda EZ-60, have exceeded 18,000 units. The company also presented the new Sports edition of the Mazda EZ-6.

The EZ-60 debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show. It is built on Changan’s EPA platform—shared with the Deepal S07—and is available in two electrified versions. The range-extended model combines a 72 kW 1.5-litre engine used solely as a generator with a 190 kW electric motor and a 31.73 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. This setup offers a pure electric range of 160 km. Technical details for the fully electric version have not yet been fully disclosed, but preliminary figures suggest it will be competitive within its segment.

The vehicle measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,902 mm. The EZ-60 incorporates aerodynamic features such as nine air ducts and 19 functional vents, which the company says reduce wind resistance by 60.8 counts and extend driving range by 41 km.

The EZ-60 is designed around a 26.45-inch ultra-wide 5K screen that combines the instrument panel, infotainment system, and climate controls. Physical buttons have been reduced, with more functions accessible via touch and voice. A 100-inch naked-eye 3D heads-up display adjusts based on driver-eye movement and can serve as an entertainment display when parked. Rear passengers can also access touchscreens for climate and media controls, and a 23-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system is an option.
The EZ-60 includes 350 litres of cargo space, which can be expanded to 2,036 litres with the rear seats folded. The fully electric version adds a 126-litre front trunk. Additional storage compartments are integrated throughout the cabin.

Safety equipment includes nine far—side airbags and an L2-level driver assistance system supported by five HD cameras, five millimetre-wave radars, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. The battery safety system, developed with CATL and CALB, features eight layers of protection and is designed to meet China’s 2026 standards.

Reservations for the EZ-60 are open with a 10-yuan deposit, which increases in value daily until delivery and is deductible from the purchase price. This approach has contributed to the high number of early orders.
