Leapmotor has officially announced that its large SUV, the Leapmotor D19, will launch on April 16. Positioned as a flagship model, the D19 has already commenced blind pre-orders. On January 22nd, this vehicle successfully completed the world’s first real-world test of simultaneous double tyre blowout on the same side in extreme ice and snow conditions at two speeds of 80 and 120 km/h and a full load of six people.

The D19 has previously completed its regulatory filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Adopting Leapmotor’s family design language, the D19 features a “star-ring” through-type light strip paired with split-type headlamps. The pure electric (EV) variant will include a front trunk (frunk), leading to subtle differences in the hood lines compared to the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version.

At the rear, the D19 mirrors its front fascia with a through-type taillight cluster, incorporating an ISD intelligent interactive light screen and the Leapmotor logo. The D19 boasts generous dimensions, measuring 5252mm in length, 1995mm in width, and 1800mm (or 1780mm) in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 3110mm.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with a 60-inch high-brightness all-weather AR-HUD, a full LCD instrument cluster, and a large floating central control screen. There is a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and an intelligent fragrance system offering three custom scents with adjustable concentrations. The central island features dual cup holders and a storage slot. The D19 comes standard with driver’s headrest audio.

The D19’s infotainment system includes a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central control screen, a 6-inch rear multi-function control screen, and a 21.4-inch 3K electric entertainment screen. An onboard oxygen generator, second-row dual folding tables, B-pillar grab handles, laminated acoustic glass, and an all-electric automotive-grade hot/cold refrigerator with an 8.1L capacity are all provided.

The D19 offers flexible seating configurations with 5-seat, 6-seat, and 7-seat layouts, featuring 12-layer luxury seats and a zero-gravity seat on the second-row right side. On the technological front, the D19 makes a global debut with Qualcomm Snapdragon’s 1280Tops dual 8797 chips, enabling a cabin-driving integrated central domain control and an advanced VLA-assisted driving system.

Under the hood, the D19 offers two powerful powertrain options. The EREV variant is equipped with a 1.5T engine (model BHE15-GFT, produced by Geely’s Aurobay Technology) serving as a range extender, delivering a maximum power of 95 kW. This version features an 80.3kWh battery pack, utilising CATL ultra-hybrid cells and supporting 800V fast charging, providing a CLTC pure electric range of up to 500 km. With a 40L fuel tank and a dual-energy motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) range-extended system, the EREV model achieves a combined power of 400 kW (536 hp) and a wheel-end torque of 7850 N·m.

The pure EV model features a full-stack 1000V electric drive system, powered by drive motors (models YS220QY032/TZ220QY033, produced by Jinhua Leap Power Technology) with maximum powers of 180 kW (241 hp) and 230 kW (308 hp), respectively. It is equipped with a 115kWh battery, also from CATL’s latest hybrid cell technology, offering an impressive CLTC pure electric range of 720 km. This EV variant delivers a combined power of 540 kW (724 hp) and a wheel-end torque of 8770 N·m.
