Recent online disclosures of charger nameplate information suggest that a forthcoming charging system from Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD may have significantly higher output capacity than the company’s 2025 megawatt flash chargers. Data circulating on Chinese social media and automotive forums indicate a maximum input power of 2,100 kW, roughly double that of BYD’s existing system introduced in March 2025. These figures appear on leaked stickers and posts, but BYD has not issued official confirmation of the new system’s specifications.
CarNewsChina reported on February 2, 2026, a prior leak showing a next‑generation BYD megawatt charger with a peak output of 1,500 kW and 1,500 A. The new 2,100 kW figure builds on the earlier leak, suggesting that BYD may be further increasing output capacity for its ultra‑fast charging network. Both leaks remain unverified and should be treated as unofficial until confirmed by BYD.
BYD’s first‑generation megawatt flash charger was formally launched on March 17, 2025, as part of the company’s Super e‑Platform rollout. It delivered up to 1,000 kW of peak charging power, supported a 1,000‑volt architecture, and enabled compatible vehicles to add approximately 400 kilometres of range in five minutes under ideal conditions. The system was integrated into models including the Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, with BYD announcing plans to deploy thousands of these chargers nationwide.
The leaked 2,100 kW nameplate rating is higher than that of any publicly disclosed BYD system to date. Social media posts and screenshots also reference individual output channels ranging from 1,200 kW to 1,500 kW, which may indicate distributed power across multiple charging guns. If verified, these figures would represent a substantial increase over the first‑generation 1,000 kW system and extend BYD’s lead in ultra‑fast passenger EV charging.
Fast charging technology is advancing rapidly in China, with multiple automakers and infrastructure companies developing systems capable of delivering over 500 kW. BYD’s megawatt flash chargers remain the world’s fastest for passenger EVs.
At present, the source of the 2,100 kW nameplate remains unverified. BYD has not released official technical information, and there is no confirmed deployment timeline. The figures should therefore be considered unconfirmed until verified by BYD or an authorised representative.
