Shangjie (尚界) is a Huawei-SAIC joint brand and the fifth brand under Huawei’s controlled HIMA alliance. Shangjie H5 SUV is its first model, which will launch in September and has had its powertrain revealed by the regulator.

Shnagjie is Huawei’s entry-level brand aimed at young buyers. Unlike the previous four brands under HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance), which are positioned more in the premium segment (Aito, Luxeed, Stelato), and some even above it (Maextro).

Shangjie H5 revealed a few official images earlier this week, and on Wednesday, its homologation application to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) was published, revealing powertrain and other core specs.

Following the MIIT announcement, Shangjie published some official specs, so let’s start with that. As usual for recent HIMA models, it comes in BEV and EREV variants.

The all-electric variant will have a CLTC range of 655 km, while the EREV will have 1,300 km. It will feature Huawei’s ADS 4 ADAS, which will receive input from various sensors, including lidar above the front windshield.

Talking dimensions, H5 is a mid-size SUV with five seats and dimensions (length/width/height) 4780/1910/1657 mm, and a 2840 mm wheelbase.

MIIT revealed that the BEV version has two powertrain options, both single motor: 150 kW e-motor paired with LFP battery and 180 kW paired with NMC battery. Both e-motors are made by SAIC and both batteries by CATL.

The EREV version features a 150 kW electric motor in addition to a 1.5L internal combustion engine (ICE) with 72 kW.

Shnagjie was unveiled in April as HIMA’s fight brand by Richard Yu, Huawei’s executive director. Last month, spy shots from testing began to appear in China. Shnagjie is just a phonetic translation from Chinese, and the brand has promised to get a proper English name later this year.

The company hinted that the car will be priced under 200,000 yuan, and CarNewsChina expects it to start at 145,000 yuan (20,200 USD).
