It keeps pace with the Model Y’s base model acceleration, but its range is the real star. With an 80.8 kWh LFP battery from CALB, it stretches up to 702 km (436 miles) on China’s CLTC standard, edging out the Model Y’s 688 km Long Range version. Even with 20-inch wheels, it still hits a solid 677 km, making it a trusty pick for long road trips.

Charging is where the G7 flexes. Its 800V setup and 5C ultra-fast charging can juice it from 10% to 80% in under 12 minutes, adding 436 km of range in just 10 minutes. The Model Y leans on Tesla’s Supercharger network, which maxes out at 250 kW, but it can’t match the G7’s blazing 451 kW DC fast-charging speed. In a country where charging stations are popping up everywhere, the G7’s quick pit stops are a win for city commuters and rural road-trippers alike.

A 15.6-inch floating touchscreen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, anchors a clean, minimalist cabin, paired with an 87-inch augmented reality head-up display from Huawei that beams navigation and driving info in vivid detail. The Model Y’s 15-inch screen is cool, but it can’t match the G7’s AR flair or its bonus 8-inch rear passenger display. With 39 storage spots, a 20-speaker 7.1.4 sound system, and four heated, ventilated, massaging seats, it’s like a spa on wheels. Its 819-liter trunk expands to 2,277 liters, beating the Model Y’s 2,158 liters, plus a 120-liter under-floor nook and 42-liter frunk for extra versatility.

The design nails it with Xpeng’s “X Face” look, rocking a full-width light bar and sleek “Star Ring” taillights for a modern edge. At 4,892 mm long, it’s a touch bigger than the Model Y, with 48.3% more front headroom and 33 mm more shoulder space. The Model Y’s minimalist style has global fans, but the G7’s six color options and Taichi AI Chassis, which tweaks suspension in 200 ms for a smoother ride than a Mercedes-Benz GLE, cater to Chinese drivers craving comfort and personalization.
