Xiaomi has announced that its flagship performance electric sedan, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, will soon be available in the popular racing simulation game Gran Turismo 7 on the Playstation 5. This marks a historic moment as the first Chinese car ever featured in the long-running franchise. In addition, Xiaomi revealed plans to collaborate with Gran Turismo to develop a Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept car within the simulation.

Gran Turismo, developed by Polyphony Digital and led by renowned producer Kazunori Yamauchi, debuted in 1997 and has since become one of the most influential racing simulators globally. The franchise is licensed by dozens of top automotive manufacturers, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Toyota, and Honda, as well as performance parts brands like HKS, KW, Nismo, and Yokohama. It features over 1,000 vehicles and over 50 tracks from real-world racing series such as WRC, NASCAR, Super GT, and Le Mans.

Kazunori Yamauchi commented on the partnership:

“I’m excited to start this collaboration with Xiaomi. China’s automotive industry is evolving rapidly, and Xiaomi’s entry into this field is impressive. Their SU7 Ultra prototype even set a Nürburgring lap record. I’m moved by Xiaomi’s courage, curiosity, passion, and relentless effort. These qualities resonate deeply with the spirit of Gran Turismo and Polyphony Digital.”

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun echoed Yamauchi’s sentiments:

“We share Mr. Yamauchi’s belief in building a better society through technology. Xiaomi has always strived to make innovation accessible to everyone, and the inclusion of the SU7 Ultra in Gran Turismo allows global players and car culture enthusiasts to experience the charm of high-performance intelligent vehicles from China. We hope to see more Chinese brands represented in the game.”

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra represents the pinnacle of Xiaomi’s automotive ambitions. As the performance-focused version of the SU7 series, it combines luxury, design, and cutting-edge in-house engineering. Highlights include:

  • Xiaomi-developed V8s motor with a peak speed of 27,200 rpm
  • Three-motor system delivering a combined 1,548 PS
  • Track-grade battery system
  • Top speed over 350 km/h
  • 0–100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds

The SU7 Ultra has claimed multiple lap records for four-door production cars at various circuits, showcasing Xiaomi’s rapid technological development since entering the auto sector through its strategic partnership with Gran Turismo.

This collaboration is a significant cultural moment for China’s growing presence in the global automotive landscape, further amplified by Xiaomi’s intent to bring more high-performance, tech-centric concepts like the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo to life within the virtual motorsport arena.
