GAC Aion officially launched its new compact SUV, the Aion i60, today, with a starting price ranging from 109,800 to 135,800 yuan (15,400 to 19,000 USD). Positioned as a five-seater compact SUV, the Aion i60 offers both pure electric (EV) and range-extended powertrain options.

The range-extended version of the Aion i60 features GAC’s independently developed “Xingyuan Range-Extended System,” boasting a CLTC pure electric range of 210 kilometres and equipped with 3C fast charging capability. For those seeking a fully electric experience, the EV variant offers a maximum range of 650 kilometres.

The Aion i60 showcases a fresh front-end design, characterised by deep, upward-swept headlights housing dual LED light sources, with a daytime running light strip positioned above. A continuous design element spans the centre, with the Aion English logo displayed on the upper part of the front fascia. The front bumper retains an air intake design, and the vehicle is also equipped with an external projector at the front.

From the side, the Aion i60 shares similar lines with the Aion V, and both models have identical wheelbases. However, the Aion i60 boasts larger dimensions, measuring 4685mm in length, 1854mm in width, and 1660mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2775mm. This makes it longer than the Aion V by 105mm, while still maintaining its five-seater SUV configuration. The new vehicle features semi-hidden door handles, and the rearview mirrors also incorporate auxiliary driving “blue lights.” Customers can choose between 18-inch and 19-inch wheel options.

The rear of the Aion i60 features a through-type taillight design with a double-layer light strip and a self-illuminating logo in the centre. The rear doors open nearly 90 degrees for easier ingress and egress, and an electric tailgate with a low sill design further enhances convenience. The Aion i60 is available in six exterior colours: Warm Velvet Gold, Galaxy Blue, Arctic White, Seafire Grey, Night Shadow Black, and Holographic Silver.

Inside, the Aion i60 adopts a design philosophy similar to the Aion V. The interior features a two-tone upper and lower design, separated by metallic-textured trim. Three interior colour options are available: Oat Milk White, Warm Velvet Light Brown, and Tahiti Grey, complemented by 32-colour ambient lighting. The vehicle is equipped with a more simplified scroll-wheel steering wheel, a square floating central control screen, and a digital instrument cluster. Below the screen, two wireless charging pads are provided. Traditional mechanical door handles are retained.

In terms of advanced driver-assistance systems, the Aion i60 is equipped with GAC’s GSD intelligent driving assistance system, supporting high-speed NDA (Navigation Driving Assist) and HPA (Intelligent Parking Assist) functions, enabling features such as on/off-ramp assistance and lane changes.

The Aion i60 offers both pure electric and range-extended powertrain options. The pure electric version is equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack, providing a maximum range of 650 kilometres. The range-extended version features a 1.5L engine with a maximum power output of 74 kW, a CLTC pure electric range of 210 kilometres, and a combined range of 1240 kilometres. Its fuel consumption in charge-sustaining mode is 5.5L/100km, and the electric motor delivers a maximum power of 180 kW (241 hp). The battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes.
