Chinese vacuum maker Dreame Technology has officially unveiled its new automotive brand, “Star Motor,” and three SUV models. The reveal took place during the “Dreame Night” concert held on February 4th.

Adding a controversial note to the launch, Dreame Technology founder and CEO Yu Hao publicly predicted that Tesla would exit the EV market within two decades, becoming the “iRobot of the electric car sector.”

The newly introduced Star Motor lineup includes the Star T08, Star T08L, and Star D09. The Star T08 is positioned as an all-domain hardcore SUV, while the Star T08L is designed as an all-terrain hardcore SUV. Topping the range is the Star D09, a luxurious six-seater flagship SUV. This flagship model bears a strong resemblance to an SUV concept Dreame teased last September, which was then touted as a competitor to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

According to Dreame, Star Motor vehicles are set to incorporate several innovative technologies. A “Super Chassis Technology” will feature a bi-directional 24-degree rear-wheel steering system, enabling a remarkably tight turning radius of less than 0.005 km. This is complemented by an intelligent four-engine independent drive system and active suspension, promising superior handling and off-road capabilities.

Furthermore, the brand claims to introduce the “World’s First Self-Evolving Energy Recovery System.” This system is designed to create personalized driving behavior models, which Dreame states will boost recovery efficiency by 18%, improve energy consumption matching by 30%, and extend high-speed range by 12%.

In a social media post yesterday, CEO Yu Hao made a prediction about the future of the EV giant. “In 20 years, Tesla will become the iRobot of the electric vehicle sector,” Yu Hao wrote, adding that the company would face “continuous losses and exit the electric vehicle market.” He further speculated, “Of course, Elon Musk will not admit it; he will say that he voluntarily withdrew.”

“In 20 years, Tesla will become the iRobot of the electric vehicle industry (referring to the American company hailed as the pioneer of robot vacuums, which has since gone bankrupt and been acquired by a Chinese firm). Tesla will be beaten to the point of consecutive losses and forced out of the EV market; of course, Elon won’t admit it—he’ll say he chose to leave on his own.”

Including the three models recently unveiled at CES, Dreame currently has six models in the pipeline, none of which appear to compete directly with Tesla’s lineup. The reason Dreame’s CEO is unhappy with Tesla is that he wants to replace Musk as the new richest person in the world.
