The new IM LS6 EREV features a revolutionary CATL-powered Hengxing range-extender system.

The IM LS6.
With an eye toward expanding its market share, IM Motors has unveiled its updated LS6, which is now available in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) versions, each with multiple trims.
For the BEV lineup, customers can choose between the Pro and Ultra models. The Pro is powered by a 76-kWh battery, delivering a CLTC range of 404 miles. It comes in rear-wheel drive and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds. The Ultra steps things up with a 103-kWh battery and an extended 466-mile range. This all-wheel-drive variant can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.48 seconds.
Meanwhile, the EREV lineup introduces the Pro and Max trims, both featuring IM Motors’ newly launched Hengxing range-extender system. Unveiled on August 1, Hengxing is designed to outperform conventional EREV setups by pairing larger battery packs with greater efficiency, giving drivers significantly more range and versatility for long-distance travel.
First model with new Hengxing range-extender system
The updated LS6 marks the debut of the company’s new Hengxing range-extender system, making it the first model in the lineup to feature this technology. At the core of the system are CATL-supplied Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery packs, which are notably larger than those found in many battery-electric vehicles.
The EREV lineup includes two trims. The Pro version comes with a 52-kWh battery, delivering a CLTC electric range of 230 miles, and can achieve up to 870 miles when combined with a full tank of fuel. The Max version upgrades to a 66-kWh battery, extending the CLTC electric range to 280 miles and offering a total driving range of 933 miles.
Both EREV versions of the updated LS6 are rear-wheel drive and deliver consistent performance, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds. What sets them apart, however, is the size of their battery packs. IM Motors has equipped the LS6 EREV variants with packs larger than those found in many all-electric models.
Longer driving capability compared with Tesla Model Y
As a comparison, the entry-level Tesla Model Y sold in China carries a 62.5-kWh battery pack, paired with a CLTC range of 369 miles. The LS6’s larger batteries, combined with its Hengxing range-extender system, provide drivers with more flexibility and longer overall driving capability than most conventional setups.
IM Motors was founded in 2020 through a partnership with Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, with the name standing for Intelligence in Motion. The brand launched in China in 2022 and made its European debut at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, though its cars are not yet sold in Europe.
