BYD’s premium brand, Yangwang, announced that the U9 Xtreme has been officially listed on the Nürburgring Nordschleife production car leaderboard with a lap time of 6 minutes 59.157 seconds. The certification formally recognises the model as the fastest production electric vehicle at the circuit and confirms its “dual first” status for top speed and lap time.

The U9 Xtreme also achieved a top speed of 496.22 km/h, making it the fastest global production supercar. The previous record for production electric vehicles at the Nordschleife was surpassed by five seconds, and this marks the first time a production EV has broken the seven-minute barrier at the track.

Yangwang executive Hu Xiaoqing provided further details, noting that the official listing follows a private track session on October 10, 2025. Despite challenging weather and a limited opportunity for high-speed laps, the team secured one final “flying lap.” The drivers had not been on the U9 Xtreme since September 18, making it their first track session in 22 days. Hu mentioned that additional laps could have potentially improved the official time further.

The certified lap reflects extensive work from the U9 Xtreme development team and collaboration with Nürburgring officials and TÜV Rheinland. Yangwang highlighted that the car features technical characteristics distinct from other supercars currently on the leaderboard.

The lap was driven by German professional racer Moritz Kranz, who has extensive Nürburgring experience, having completed nearly 10,000 laps in his GT career. The announcement marks the first Chinese production supercar to be officially recorded on the Nürburgring production car leaderboard.

Yangwang confirmed that the development and testing of the U9 Xtreme will continue to refine track performance further. The certification underscores the brand’s global positioning in high-performance electric supercars.
