China’s battery industry recorded significant volume growth in November 2025, according to new monthly data released by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, as reported by IT-home. The report confirms higher nationwide output across both power batteries and other battery categories, reflecting continued expansion in production and installations during the month.
The data shows that combined sales of power and other batteries reached 179.4 GWh in November, representing an 8.1 per cent month-on-month increase and a 52.2 per cent year-on-year rise. Power battery sales accounted for 134.0 GWh, or 74.7 per cent of the total, marking a 7.8 per cent month-on-month increase and a 52.7 per cent year-on-year gain. Sales of other battery types reached 45.4 GWh, up 8.9 per cent from the previous month and 50.7 per cent from the same period last year.
From January to November, cumulative sales of power and other batteries totalled 1412.5 GWh, rising 54.7 per cent year on year. Cumulative power battery sales reached 1044.3 GWh, accounting for 73.9 per cent of total sales during the period, up 50.3 per cent year on year. Other battery categories recorded cumulative sales of 368.2 GWh, accounting for 26.1 per cent of the total and increasing by 68.9 per cent year on year.
Exports also expanded in November. Combined exports of power and other batteries reached 32.2 GWh, rising 14.1 per cent month on month and 46.5 per cent year on year, and accounting for 17.9 per cent of total monthly sales. Power battery exports totalled 21.2 GWh, or 66.0 per cent of all exports, up 9.4 per cent month on month and 70.2 per cent year on year. Exports of other battery types reached 10.9 GWh, up 24.4 per cent month on month and 15.3 per cent year on year.
For the January to November period, combined exports totalled 260.3 GWh, representing a 44.2 per cent year-on-year increase. Power battery exports reached 169.8 GWh, or 65.2 per cent of total exports, up 40.6 per cent year on year. Other battery exports totalled 90.5 GWh, accounting for 34.8 per cent and increasing 51.4 per cent year on year.
The report also provides November installation data. Domestic power battery installations reached 93.5 GWh, up 11.2 per cent month on month and 39.2 per cent year on year. Ternary battery installations were 18.2 GWh, while lithium iron phosphate installations reached 75.3 GWh. Cumulative installations for the first eleven months reached 671.5 GWh.
Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), BYD, and Calb led the combined battery sales rankings for November, while CATL, BYD, and Gotion High Tech topped the power battery sales rankings.
