
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) maintained robust sales growth in Europe last month, while Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) continued its decline.
BYD’s new vehicle registrations in Europe reached 17,470 units in October, a 206.8 percent increase from 5,695 units in the same period last year, according to data released today by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
The data covers the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (EU + EFTA + UK).
Tesla’s new vehicle registrations in Europe for October totaled 6,964 units, a 48.5 percent decrease from 13,519 units in the same period last year.
Within the EU, BYD’s October registrations reached 13,350 units, a 195.0 percent increase from 4,525 units in the same period last year.
Tesla’s October registrations in the EU totaled 9,426 units, a 9.0 percent decline from 10,360 units in the same period last year.
From January to October, BYD’s new vehicle registrations in Europe totaled 138,390 units, a 285.0 percent increase from 35,949 units during the same period last year.
Tesla’s new vehicle registrations in Europe for the first ten months came in at 180,688 units, a 29.6 percent decrease from 256,495 units during the same period last year.
In the EU, BYD’s new vehicle registrations from January to October reached 94,216 units, a 239.6 percent increase compared to 27,741 units during the same period last year.
Tesla’s new vehicle registrations in the EU from January to October totaled 117,000 units, a 39.2 percent decrease compared to 192,439 units during the same period last year.
