Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is gearing up to launch a mind-blowing 3,000-horsepower electric supercar: the Yangwang U9 Track Edition. According to leaked documents filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and reported by Electrek, the current U9 model already delivers an impressive 1,300 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (about 100 km/h) in just 2.36 seconds, thanks to its advanced quad-motor setup and cutting-edge suspension system. But BYD’s new Track Edition is set to blow those performance benchmarks out of the water.
With the Yangwang U9 Track Edition, BYD is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with electric vehicles. The new model will feature four 555-kilowatt (kW) electric motors, delivering a jaw-dropping total output of 3,020 horsepower, more than double the power of the base U9.
The exterior of the Yangwang U9 Track Edition has been meticulously crafted for high-performance driving. It comes standard with a carbon fiber roof, a large fixed rear wing, and a variable rear diffuser, all engineered to optimize aerodynamics. For those seeking an even more aggressive look and enhanced downforce, buyers can opt for performance upgrades like a front splitter and an active rear wing. While many high-performance electric vehicles prioritize downforce for stability, the U9 Track Edition takes it to the next level, incorporating a more radical and innovative aerodynamic design to push the limits of speed and handling.
A 3,000-horsepower electric supercar may seem like something out of science fiction, but Chinese manufacturers like BYD are continuously pushing the envelope with their ever-more-powerful models. As the automotive world waits with bated breath, all eyes are on BYD to see just how much performance they can extract from this cutting-edge supercar.
