A revised Denza Z9 GT, developed under BYD’s premium Denza brand, has appeared in the latest Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regulatory filing in China. The filing confirms powertrain updates for both pure electric and plug-in hybrid variants, including the addition of a single-motor electric version and an enlarged battery for the plug-in hybrid model. The submission indicates preparation for a refreshed market version rather than a full model replacement.
The exterior design shown in the filing remains consistent with the current Denza Z9 GT, retaining the same body proportions and overall styling elements. One visible change is the relocation of the lidar sensor to a roof-mounted position, replacing the previous installation location. No interior images or interior specification changes were disclosed in the regulatory documents.
For the pure electric lineup, the filing introduces a newly registered single-motor variant alongside the existing three-motor configuration. The single-motor version is rated at a maximum output of 370 kilowatts. Both the Denza Z9 and Denza Z9 GT pure electric models are included in the filing with this configuration. Vehicle curb weight varies by version: standard and extended-range single-motor variants are listed separately, though battery capacity for the extended-range version was not disclosed.
The three-motor pure-electric Denza Z9 GT features revised output figures compared with the current production model. The front motor is rated at 230 kilowatts, while the two rear motors are each rated at 310 kilowatts, for a total system output of 850 kilowatts (approximately 1,140 horsepower). The filing lists a top speed of 270 kilometers per hour for this configuration. By comparison, the existing three-motor version is rated at a combined 710 kilowatts (approximately 952 horsepower).
The plug-in hybrid Denza Z9 GT is listed with a powertrain comprising a 2.0T internal-combustion engine and three electric motors. The engine is rated at 152 kilowatts, while the front motor produces 200 kilowatts and each rear motor produces 220 kilowatts, resulting in a combined electric motor output of 640 kilowatts. The hybrid variant is paired with a 63.82-kilowatt-hour battery pack.
According to the filing, the plug-in hybrid Denza Z9 GT achieves a WLTC-rated pure-electric range of 301 kilometers and a CLTC-rated pure-electric range exceeding 400 kilometers. The listed fuel consumption under battery-depleted conditions is 6.30 liters per 100 kilometers, with a top speed of 230 kilometers per hour.
The regulatory filing does not disclose pricing or a confirmed launch schedule, but its publication indicates BYD-backed Denza is moving the updated Z9 GT closer to production approval in China.
