Yangwang, BYD‘s (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) ultra-luxury sub-brand, will showcase the U9 Xtreme electric supercar at the upcoming 2025 Guangzhou auto show, according to multiple domestic automotive media reports today.
The 2025 Guangzhou auto show will be held at the Canton Fair Complex from November 21 to 30, with November 21 designated as Media Day.
Established in 2003, the Guangzhou auto show is held annually in November.
Yangwang unveiled the U9 Xtreme on September 20 and began accepting reservations for its limited production run of 30 units worldwide.
The electric supercar achieved an officially certified top speed of 496.22 km/h at Germany’s ATP test track, setting a world record for production vehicles.
Additionally, the U9 Xtreme recorded a lap time of 6 minutes 59.157 seconds at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit, becoming the first pure-electric production vehicle to break the 7-minute mark there.
Built on a 1200-volt high-voltage platform, the U9 Xtreme is the world’s first production vehicle to utilize such a platform, Yangwang said previously.
It features BYD’s e4 powertrain system with four motors, each delivering a peak power of 555 kW, providing a combined output exceeding 3000 Ps.
BYD launched the regular Yangwang U9 in China on February 25, 2024. As one of the most powerful vehicles developed by a domestic Chinese automaker, it serves as a showcase for BYD’s technological prowess.
The two-seat electric supercar is offered in a single variant, initially priced at RMB 1.68 million ($236,460) and increased to RMB 1.8 million on October 16 this year.
The regular Yangwang U9 features four electric motors, each delivering 240 kW of peak power, for a combined peak output of 960 kW.
This powertrain propels the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.36 seconds.
Yangwang’s current lineup in China also includes the U8 SUV (sport utility vehicle), U8L SUV, and U7 sedan.
