Yangwang, the ultra-luxury sub-brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), today launched pre-sales for its U8L luxury SUV (sport utility vehicle), as it intensifies its efforts in the luxury vehicle market.
Yangwang is offering only one option for the new model during the pre-sales, called it the Dingshi Edition, with a pre-sales price of RMB 1.3 million ($180,700).
Interested Chinese customers can pay RMB 20,000 to reserve the model and receive a RMB 30,000 optional feature fund.
The U8L is an extended version of Yangwang’s first model, the U8 off-road SUV, with dimensions of 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, and 1,921 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.
The standard U8 measures 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,930 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm.
The U8L will feature a gold logo made from 24K pure gold, highlighting its premium status.
The six-seat SUV is built on BYD’s e4 technology, powered by four electric motors, and delivers over 1,000 horsepower.
It is equipped with BYD’s DiSus-P body control system, the most advanced branch of the DiSus system, offering a more comfortable driving experience.
The U8 is Yangwang’s first model, launched on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1.098 million.
On February 25, 2024, Yangwang launched the U9, a two-seat electric supercar with a starting price of RMB 1.68 million.
On March 27, the brand launched its third model, the U7 sedan, with a starting price of RMB 628,000.
On April 23, the Yangwang U8L made its debut on the first day of the Shanghai auto show. The official launch date for the model has not yet been determined.
Yangwang sold 205 vehicles in June, a year-on-year decrease of 50.96 percent, but a month-on-month increase of 47.48 percent.
In June, the Yangwang U8 sold 64 units, the U9 sold 9 units, and the U7 sold 132 units.
