- The Yangwang U7 will be the first to feature the second-generation blade battery, achieving a pure electric range of 1,006 kilometers.
- Amid six consecutive months of declining sales, this technology, teased as «disruptive,» is expected to serve as a key catalyst to boost market demand.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) confirmed it will officially launch its second-generation blade battery and flash charging technology at an event in its headquarters city of Shenzhen on March 5.
High hopes are pinned on this technology amid six consecutive months of declining sales for the new energy vehicle (NEV) giant.
BYD teased the upcoming release in a Weibo post on Wednesday, stating it will «once again change the world with technology.»
The NEV maker did not provide further details. BYD has recently been spotted beginning large-scale deployment of megawatt-level fast-charging facilities.
BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang subsequently announced that the 2026 Yangwang U7 sedan will be the first to feature the second-generation blade battery.
The model is equipped with a 150-kWh battery pack, delivering a pure electric range of up to 1,006 kilometers, according to the brand.
Hu Xiaoqing, general manager of Yangwang’s sales division, said the technology breaks the «impossible triangle» for premium pure-electric flagship models by balancing high horsepower, long range, and fast charging speeds.
Previous reports indicated that BYD is developing a second-generation megawatt fast-charging facility with a maximum output of 2,100 kilowatts. The new charging piles feature a cyan exterior and a T-shaped structural design.
BYD launched the first-generation blade battery in 2020. The battery is known for its high safety and long lifespan.
In March 2025, BYD released megawatt flash-charger and flash-charging batteries, claiming a five-minute charge could replenish 400 kilometers of range.
Affected by the Chinese New Year holiday and adjustments to national support policies, BYD’s NEV sales plunged 41% year-on-year in February, leading to overseas sales surpassing domestic sales for the first time.
Facing the challenge of sluggish domestic market demand, BYD is attempting to turn the tide through disruptive charging technologies and premium models.
In addition to the Yangwang U7, the 2026 Yangwang U8 and U8L will also be launched on March 5.
Furthermore, the Datang, a flagship sport utility vehicle (SUV) from BYD brand’s Dynasty lineup, and the updated Z9GT from the Denza brand are also expected to debut at the same event.
