BYD officially unveiled the new Linghui brand, targeting the ride-hailing business in China. The official announcement hints that the company’s fifth brand will soon be launched domestically as the BYD brand aims to distance itself from low-cost products.
BYD Company currently has four brands in China, including BYD, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang. In January, the Shenzhen-based automaker applied for a few models with unfamiliar badges. It appeared that BYD’s new brand will be called Linghui. Its model line will comprise cost-efficient cars for the B2B market.
On February 2, BYD officially teased the new Linghui brand, launching its official page on the Weibo Chinese social media platform. In this short announcement, BYD stated: “Welcome Linghui! Embark on a better life and lead the way in value-added travel!” The announcement image had more PR-text, promising that Linghui will carry both your luggage and expectations.
No further information about the new brand was provided. As CarNewsChina previously reported, Linghui will focus on selling ride-hailing, taxis, and corporate vehicles. They will sell via an independent channel system that differs from the regular private passenger cars. However, the first four Linghui-branded models are actually iterations of existing BYD-branded models.
