BYD is poised to reach a significant milestone of exporting one million vehicles in 2025. According to the latest industry data released on December 23, BYD’s passenger vehicle exports reached 128,067 units in November 2025, representing a dramatic year-on-year increase of 313.4% and a month-on-month growth of 59.9%.

From January to November 2025, BYD has already exported 878,498 vehicles, showing a 144% increase compared to the same period last year. This performance has already more than doubled BYD’s total export volume for 2024.

While Chery retained its position as China’s leading vehicle exporter in November with 135,190 units shipped overseas, BYD is rapidly closing the gap, ranking second in the monthly export rankings.

BYD has now surpassed Tesla in sales across eleven key automotive markets in 2025, including major European countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Ireland, as well as Asian markets including Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore, Thailand, and China.

As of December 2025, BYD’s new energy vehicles have reached 119 countries and regions worldwide. The company recently celebrated another milestone on December 18, when it produced its 15 millionth new energy vehicle, becoming the first automaker to achieve this landmark.

Editor’s comment

BYD exported 878,498 vehicles in the first 11 months of 2025, with 128,067 units shipped in November alone. This trajectory suggests that even if BYD’s December export figures only match those of November, the company is virtually guaranteed to surpass 1 million vehicle exports for 2025.

Quantitatively, BYD still trails Chery, China’s leading vehicle exporter. However, this gap is notable for two reasons: first, Chery’s exports largely comprise internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, whereas BYD exclusively produces new energy vehicles (NEVs); second, the difference in export figures between BYD and Chery in November was already quite narrow. Therefore, it would be no surprise if BYD’s December export numbers were to exceed Chery’s.
