BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the 2026 model year Seal 07 DM-i, significantly upgrading specifications while lowering the overall price to enhance the appeal of this hybrid sedan.
The updated Seal 07 DM-i was launched at an event today, offering four variants: two with 135-km range and two with 230-km range on battery power, priced starting at RMB 149,800 ($21,040), RMB 159,800, RMB 169,800, and RMB 186,800 respectively.
The Seal 07 DM-i was initially launched on August 8, 2024, with five variants priced at RMB 139,800, RMB 155,800, RMB 165,800, RMB 175,800, and RMB 195,800. Except for the entry-level model with a 70-km range, all variants featured a 125-km range.
The updated Seal 07 DM-i features larger dimensions: 4,995 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. Its predecessor measured 4,980 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, also with a 2,900 mm wheelbase.
The entry-level variant of the hybrid model features a 1.5L engine with a maximum power output of 74 kW and a front electric motor delivering 160 kW, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.0 seconds.
The other three variants are equipped with a 1.5T engine producing 115 kW and a front electric motor generating 200 kW, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.9 seconds.
By comparison, its predecessor only offered the 115 kW 1.5T engine and 200 kW front motor in its highest-priced variant.
The updated Seal 07 DM-i features 17.6-kWh blade battery packs in its 135-km range variants, while the other two variants utilize 29.46-kWh battery packs.
The three lower-priced variants are equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye C driver assistance system, based on the pure-vision DiPilot 100 solution that supports highway and urban expressway pilot assisted driving.
The highest-priced variant incorporates the God’s Eye B driver assistance system with an integrated LiDAR sensor, utilizing the pure-vision DiPilot 300 system that additionally supports piloted driving on urban roads.
BYD’s DiSus chassis control system sees increased application in the updated Seal 07 DM-i, with DiSus-C featured across all three variants except the entry-level model.
The Seal 07 DM-i is BYD’s first mid-to-large sedan equipped with fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) technology, delivering lower fuel consumption.
The updated model’s adjustments to specifications and pricing structure are expected to boost its sales performance.
BYD sold 373,626 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in August, marking a 0.15 percent year-on-year increase and an 8.52 percent rise from July.
The Seal family sold 53,992 units in August, surpassing the Song family to become BYD’s second-best-selling model. Although this represents a 1.54 percent year-on-year decrease, it marks a 15.24 percent increase from July, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
