BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the Seal 05 DM-i hybrid sedan in Poland and Slovakia, marking the Chinese new energy-vehicle (NEV) maker’s second plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model introduced in Europe.
BYD announced yesterday that the Seal 05 DM-i, locally renamed Seal 5 DM-i, has recently been launched in these two European countries, saying that the car will bring a new revolution to the European sedan market with its comfort, smart features, ultra-low fuel consumption, and extended range performance.
The company’s first hybrid model in Europe is the Song Plus DM-i, which was launched in Europe under the name Seal U DM-i in the second quarter of 2024.
The strong sales of the Song Plus DM-i demonstrate European consumers’ recognition of BYD’s DM hybrid technology, said Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president.
The Seal 05 DM-i boasts advantages such as ultra-long range, a comfortable cabin, and spacious trunk space, Li said, noting that BYD is confident in its market performance in Europe.
The hybrid sedan achieves fuel efficiency as low as 1.7 liters per 100 kilometers, significantly reducing ownership costs, according to BYD.
Seal 05 DM-i offers Comfort and Design trims in Poland, with starting prices of PLN 129,900 ($34,840) and PLN 139,900, respectively.
Following its launch in Poland and Slovakia, the Seal 05 DM-i will be introduced to European markets including the Czech Republic, Romania, and Croatia, according to BYD.
