BYD launches 2026 Seal in the UK

The newest BYD Seal variant seems to mainly have been updated with mostly cosmetic changes, as BYD writes of a “series of changes to enhance its appeal, including extra technology, greater storage capacity front and rear, plus new paint colours.”

Some technical features, mainly in the comfort and user friendliness areas, were also introduced, including a “panoramic sunroof, a Dynaudio 12-speaker sound system, a 15.6” high-definition touchscreen and a new Driver Monitoring System.”

The Seal is powered by BYD’s blade battery, which uses cobalt-free Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The battery capacity is reported to be 82.5kWh, which results in a WLTP range of 354 miles for the Design trim, and 323 miles for the Excellence. The battery can be charged on a fast-charging station at 150kW peak speed, allowing for a charging process from 10%-80% in about 37 minutes.

There are other differences between the two variants, as the range-topping ‘Excellence’ trim features all-wheel drive configuration and 670Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph acceleration time of 3.8 seconds. The ‘Design’ features a single motor located in the rear. Maximum output stands at 360Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 5.9 seconds. Both models are limited to a top speed of 112mph.

As mentioned above, prices start at £45,730 for the Design, with the Excellence priced at £48,730, remaining unchanged from the existing Seal lineup. Both models are backed up by a six-year, 93,750-mile warranty, plus a battery warranty of up to eight years or 155,350 miles.
