BYD‘s Fang Cheng Bao today officially launched the long-range edition of its Bao 5 SUV, introducing four new models with an electric range of 210 km. Prices for the new lineup range from 269,800 yuan (37,800 USD) to 329,800 yuan (46,200 USD).

The long-range version of the Bao 5 boasts upgrades across its core technologies, including an enhanced DMO+ platform, Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4, and an improved BYD intelligent ecosystem.

At the heart of the new models is the DMO+ platform, an upgrade that will also be available to existing Bao 5 owners via an over-the-air (OTA) update. This platform introduces “Full-Speed Domain Road Surface Perception Control Technology,” which refines the existing road surface perception control to ensure that the vehicle’s torque output and precise control remain unaffected by speed, terrain, or other operating conditions.

In terms of advanced driver-assistance systems, the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5 Qiankun Edition now features the upgraded Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4. This system supports cloud-based autonomous learning and evolution, promising a smoother in-car experience. Parking is made more seamless with the upgraded “Parking Space to Parking Space 2.0” system, while active safety is bolstered by the “All-Dimensional Anti-Collision System CAS 4.0.”

For off-road enthusiasts and urban commuters alike, the Bao 5 DiSus version is equipped with the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system, offering adjustable damping, height, and stiffness. The chassis also features active pre-scanning and four-wheel linkage functions. With a maximum wading depth of 790 mm and a suspension height adjustment of 140 mm, the vehicle is designed to meet both city driving and extreme off-road demands.

The car is offered in 5 colours.

Inside the cabin, new features enhance comfort and intelligence. These include a front passenger leg rest and a one-touch front “big bed” mode. Smart features have been expanded with an intelligent anti-motion sickness mode and an upgraded intelligent air conditioning 2.0 with an “intelligent anti-fog mode.” The Devialet audio system has also seen improvements in speaker quantity, audio channel count, and hardware performance.

Aesthetically, the new Bao 5 offers five body colours and three interior colour schemes. It introduces new 18-inch and 20-inch wheel designs, and the intelligent driving system at the rear now includes a subtle blue light.
