From September, BYD Europe will take control of the wholesale distribution of its vehicles in the Netherlands. Koninklijke Louwman Group will remain BYD’s strategic partner in the country, and will continue to focus on expanding the Chinese OEM’s retail and service network, as well as its customer experience outreach.
In 2022, Louwman, one of Europe’s largest automotive distributor groups, became BYD’s very first distribution partner on the European market, helping BYD become one of the fastest growing new automotive brands on the Dutch market.
“We’re now at the beginning of a new phase in the Netherlands”, says Stella Li, Executive Vice President. “Our expansion in Europe is really gaining momentum, and we’re committed to offering consumers the best technology and service.”
With the acceleration of BYD’s European strategy, the Chinese OEM will be introducing a complete range of both fully electric and superhybrid vehicles – and taking control of the import and wholesale distribution of those vehicles via its regional subsidiary, BYD Europe.
Louwman will remain BYD’s key strategic partner in the Netherlands, and will continue to invest in the expansion of BYD’s retail network – the most recent example of which is a new retail location in Breda – and the brand’s customer-centric focus.
“We’re proud of what we achieved together with BYD, and we look forward to expand our role as the brand’s retail partner, with a wider range of models an an excellent service”, says Eric Louwman, President of Louwman Group.
Founded in 1923 and still family owned, Koninklijke Louwman Group is one of Europe’s largest automotive distributors. With its HQ in The Hague, the group imports and sells brands like Toyota, Lexus, Suzuki, and BYD across over 70 retail locations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. Louwman also provides a range of mobility solutions, including vehicle adaptations, leasing, financing, and logistics.
