BYD passenger vehicle sales are in a tough spot, as just discussed. However, BYD’s commercial vehicle sales are going swimmingly.

Compared to December, naturally, sales were down last month (in general, December is a much bigger sales month than January), but they weren’t even down much month over month. Meanwhile, year-over-year sales were up for buses and non-bus commercial vehicles (all electric of course).

Note that embedded versions of the charts in this article are on the bottom of the article. The embedded charts show better for some people.

Looking at the long-term monthly delivery chart for BYD electric buses, no significant long-term trends stand out. However, compared to January 2025, deliveries were up 54.5%! Compared to January 2024, they were up 36%. (Compared to December, they were down 12%.)

Now, in contrast, the long-term delivery chart for BYD’s non-bus commercial vehicle sales shows a strong upward trend. However, year over year, they increased less. They were up 7.5%. They increased from 3,806 to 4,091. Compared to January 2024, on the other hand, they increased 2645.6%! They totaled only 149 in January 2024.

Will 2026 be another record year for BYD bus and commercial vehicle sales?
