The BYD e7 affordable electric sedan reached dealers in China revealing interior. This vehicle aims at taxi services thanks to a long wheelbase of 2820 mm and an electric motor for 100 kW (134 hp). In contrast with its market positioning, the BYD e7’s front end resembles the high-end Denza Z9 sedan from BYD.
The BYD’s e-series comprises low-cost cars aimed at young buyers or taxi services. In previous years, this model line became a part of the larger BYD Ocean series. At the moment, the only e-series car available for purchase is the BYD e2 hatchback. It also sells in some overseas markets, including Uzbekistan. Soon, this line will be expanded by the e7 sedan. It has reached dealers across China after applying for a sales license.
BYD e7 at Chinese dealers
Pictures shared online show that several BYD e7 have already landed at dealers across China. These models are considered show cars that are not available for sale. Vehicles arrived at dealers stay in line with previously shared official images of this model. The only difference is the white body color of BYD e7s at the stores.

The BYD e7’s main feature is a streamlined front end with sharp headlights, a shark-like nose, and a small trapeze-shaped air intake. The front end of the car reminds us of the previously launched Denza Z9 high-end sedan. However, it is the only similarity between these models as the BYD e7 is a cheap vehicle with traditional door handles and relatively small 16-inch rims.

The BYD’s new sedan has a charging port in the right front fender. Its other features include real airflows in the bumper, a surround-view camera system, a sunroof, and two independent taillight units joined by a blackened trim. Despite being an affordable sedan, the BYD e7 boasts disc brakes on each axle. It also has a smooth roofline and a small ducktail spoiler that adds sportiness to this EV.
BYD e7 interior
The interior of the BYD e7 was revealed for the first time. It aligns with the modern trend of steering column-mounted gear shifters. The e7 has a unique center tunnel with a niche for mobile phones and a row of physical buttons. There is also a spacious compartment in the middle of the tunnel complemented by USB ports and a socket.

The car has a 15.6-inch monitor, typical for most BYD models. Another highlight of the e7 is a three-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom and a small LCD instrument panel on the steering column. Seats of the BYD e7 are wrapped in black leatherette. This color scheme suits the utilitarian nature of this vehicle.

The second row of the BYD e7 boasts a reasonable legroom. The rear bench has a center headrest. However, there is no armrest for the rear passengers, which is a drawback. The BYD e7’s rear seat row has ISOFIX anchorages and LED reading lights. There are also USB ports and air vents for the rear passengers. All in all, the rear row of seats of this vehicle looks like a nice place to sit.
Core specs of the BYD e7
The BYD e7 is 60 mm longer than the Tesla Model 3. The Chinese sedan’s dimensions are 4780/1900/1515 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. It is also quite light, with a curb weight of 1,499 – 1,566 kg. The BYD e7 adopts the TZ180XSJ electric motor for 100 kW (134 hp). The car can speed up to 150 km/h. The battery capacity and range have yet to be revealed. However, it was confirmed that the e7 uses an LFP battery.
