The BYD Dynasty-D full-size flagship SUV was seen in China during road tests wearing camouflage. This vehicle will be officially unveiled in the second quarter of 2026 with the latest BYD tech on board, including rear-wheel steering.

The BYD Dynasty-D concept car was first shown at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show in April. Its road-ready variant was planned for release this year. However, its market introduction was postponed to the second quarter of 2026 as BYD aims to make this model more competitive. On December 18, this vehicle was spotted in China ahead of the release.

The BYD Dynasty-D has a large body with a high beltline and a flat roof with a LiDAR sensor. The car’s front end adopts thin headlights, ISD elements in the front bumper, and a trapeze-shaped air intake. It also has a single taillight unit, a roof spoiler, and multi-spoke rims. Interestingly, the Dynasty-D has retractable door handles. However, they are about to be prohibited in China.

The spotted Dynasty-D is a PHEV, as we can see exhaust pipes in the photo. Another highlight of this vehicle is rear-wheel steering. Previously, only cars under BYD’s high-end brands Denza & Yangwang boasted this technology. The new BYD flagship adopts conventional side-view mirrors.

Spy shots revealed that this car’s size is close to 5.2 meters. Inside, it has three rows of seats with two layouts: 2+2+2 and 2+3+2. It seems that Dynasty-D will rival such cars as the Onvo L90, the Geely Galaxy M9, the Aito M8, and other full-size BEV, PHEV, and EREV crossovers.

The Dynasty-D adopts the Di-Pilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) system. It comprises a LiDAR sensor, 12 cameras, and an Nvidia Orin-X chip with a peak computing power of 254 TOPS. Other highlights include a pure electric range of over 200 km and a DiSus-A adjustable suspension with a continuous damping system.

BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu previously claimed that BYD’s domestic sales declined in China due to fierce competition in the NEV segment. However, it was announced that BYD will introduce more competitive technologies next year, solidifying its domestic market performance. The Dynasty-D is clearly positioned like one of these high-tech cars.

BYD Sealion 08 SUV teased in China

On December 15, BYD teased the Sealion 08 SUV that will be revealed in the Q1 2026. There is a chance this model will become a counterpart of the Dynasty-D, as their body outlines are similar.
