BYD officially entered the Thai market in 2022, initially selling vehicles in the Southeast Asian country through imports.

On March 10, 2023, BYD began construction of its factory in Thailand.

On July 4, 2024, the factory commenced production, with the first Thailand-made BYD vehicle rolling off the assembly line, marking the company’s 8 millionth vehicle globally.

The factory has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles and is BYD’s first wholly-owned overseas passenger vehicle factory. Models currently in production include the all-electric Dolphin and Seal, as well as the Atto 3, known as the Yuan Plus in China.

Denza entered Thailand and launched the D9 MPV in November 2024.
